Sisterhood Sketch Challenge

Happy Wednesday! After a great gift giving and supper yesterday, plus winning a double guest pass to the sneak peak of Megamind in 3D, I'm tired but in good spirits. Today, I've got a card to share with you for this week's sketch challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters. Our hostess, Kim, has challenged us with this fabulous sketch!
I'll be honest...this card started out as my anniversary card, but I changed the direction with it and it's going to be a gift card holder for MrP's mom's birthday that's coming up in November.

I used my handy dandy Second Cup gift card to display, but this is NOT her gift card =)

Stop by The Sisterhood of Crafters this week to see what the sisters have been up to and show us your take on this sketch!

Celebrating Our 4 Year Anniversary!

I'm so excited to share the card I created for MrP! I used a Verve sketch from the World Cardmaking Day challenges and the very cute Love Monkey set, as well as the Love Story set for the Anniversary sentiments (big & small). I sparkled up my little love monkey with some sakura gel pen (but you can only really tell when you click on it to zoom in), so he's sparkling with as much excitement as I am to give this card to MrP. You see, it also contains his gift!

I've purchased tickets for his favorite NFL team's second last home game, so we'll go see the Green Bay Packers play on December 26th at Lambeau Field! According to the Sunday Night Footbal guys, this is a MUST DO for football fans (especially Packers fans) and should be on every NFL fan's bucket list. So this year, we'll be able to cross it off ours. I even bought myself a little GB toque so I can put it on while MrP reads the card - and let him know I'm ready to support his team!

I only hope I've been able to keep the secret well enough. I've been so excited and nervous about this surprise that I've asked just about everyone for feedback on whether it was a good idea or not. I'm awful at surprising MrP, as I never know his reaction and it makes me anxious. But I hope I get the reaction I've been thinking I'll get - total glee!

*update* HE WAS SPEECHLESS! When he had time to think beyond the game, he  suggested we try making reservations for Alinea in Chicago, but they're not open on Mondays - the only day we'd be able to make the trip. Turns out, we'll just have to do that as part of our eventual trip to Lexington for the Derby.

Tonight, off to Madison's Grill for a delicious Menu Suprise! =)

Well I got my second cold in four weeks at the end of last week and ended up 'wasting' the weekend by laying on the couch and watching TV for almost the entire 3.5 days. Yep - three and a half days. My boss sent me home at noon on Thursday and I already had Friday off. Thursday we'd had tickets for a wine appreciation class and I was too cheap to waste my ticket, so I sniffed what I could, sipped & slurped a little of each tasting and ached through it all. I did manage to drink the entire sampling of the Australian Shiraz, though...thought I should at least do my part to drink that which I did enjoy despite the illness =)

Friday, I had a pedicure/manicure appt with Chelsey to use our Groupons (LOVE those darn fabulous discount coupons!), so I went & enjoyed that, then off to the doctor's office for a prescription refill. When I complained about my second cold in four weeks, he informed me that there's over 350 strains of the common cold, so I guess that's my clue to shut up or else I might end up with many more of them. Bailed on hot yoga and spent the evening laying with my kitty on the couch.

Saturday was more of the same, aside from a trip to the dry cleaners and meal prep place for pick up. Oh yeah - and a trip to the wine store for some back up wines for our little collection. I also made some faux Levain Bakery Dark Chocolate PB chip cookies. SO DELISH! Sunday I managed to get a few things done around the house and even created two cards for upcoming occasions, including my 4 year anniversary tomorrow. I can't wait to share that card with you...and even more, to share it with MrP because of the gift within.

I love surprises, but for whatever reason, I always second guess myself when it comes to surprises for him. I question whether he'll like it as much as I like the idea of it, if it's even a good idea, etc. Now that I've had two weeks to reflect on it and possible reactions, I just hope that he'll enjoy his gift. =)

I'm also hoping to relax and enjoy my upcoming vacation with Rose - one week in the Riviera Maya - November 21st to November!

Color my Cupcake!

This week's Sisterhood of Crafters challenge is a color challenge - ivory, light blue & dark brown! Loved it! I used the combo for my sister in law's birthday and inked up my previously ink free new Verve. The ribbon sure looks like a frayed pile o' poop at the end in the pic....I'll have to work on that for my next card.

Check out what my Sisters created and submit something of your own!
